Biography

Thierry Bouët

After studying law, Thierry Bouët starts his career. Army photographer at first, he becomes Tony Kent’s assistant in 1981-82, and then art director of the Studio Harcourt.

In 1983, he strikes out on his own and starts working with international magazines : Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie-Claire, l’Egoïste, Vanity Fair, Liberation.

Portrait and reportage photographer, Thierry Bouët gets his inspiration from the people he meets, their successes, their failures, the irony of their lives and their environments.

Uncategorizable photographer, his work, his life, his trips, his emotions are kept since 1989 through postcards. Handcrafted pieces of art, they are sent by mail to his best friend who never replies to him.

In 2011, Thierry Bouët has been conferred the distinction of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the french minister of Culture, Mr. Frédéric Mitterand.
